One of the greatest gifts we can gain is that of natural confidence. When we overcome our fears and anxieties, our perspective of the world changes - we become positive people. The outward signs become self-evident.

The Helen O’Grady Drama Academy has for many years now been at the forefront of developing confident children and adults. The programme which runs from age 3-18 and adults uses an international curriculum which has been cleverly designed, through group work, to bring out the best in everyone. Everyone can learn how to be confident and the shyest of people can overcome their worries by learning about the feelings of self-assurance arising from one's appreciation of one's own abilities or qualities.

Being unconfident is a huge hinderance in life and means that we have poor belief in ourselves. This manifests itself in future development, work and study opportunities. It also limits us in our own personal relationships. From the youngest of children this manifests itself in the child not being able to even buy something in a shop without the parent’s assistance. But later in school it means the children is reluctant to ask questions in class or participate effectively in group activities. Later in life such people lack the ability to push themselves forward in business or even their personal life.

Being naturally and respectfully assertive is a great skill and these skills can be taught to children and adults. In Cape Town the Helen O’Grady Drama Academy has seen the results of this with many of its past students saying what a difference this international drama programme has made in their lives to develop them as an individual and thereby help with their relations with other people.

The Academy runs programmes for different age-groups of children from 3-18 years and Adults. Classes are run in the following areas of Cape Town: Camps Bay, Hout Bay, Fish Hoek, Tokai, Plumstead, Mitchell’s Plain, Athlone, Newlands, Rondebosch and Goodwood.
