Windhoek student becomes Junior Champion of the Namibia Performing Arts Championship

Namibia
13 May

Jaime Oosthuizen from our Namibian Academy and the son of our former Helen O'Grady Principal, Simone Oosthuizen,  participated in the Namibian Championships of Performing Arts and was awarded the Junior Grand Champion of the Year 2019. He danced 3 items and sang 4 items.

Together with this top award,  won 6 Gold Medals, 1 Silver Medal and the Best Overall Junior Dancer of the Year.

He has been selected for Team Namibia to go to Los Angeles in July 2020 to participate in the World Championships of Performing Arts! We are so proud of him and how he handled himself and the pressure of the competition!

This is thanks to all his teachers in the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy and particularly BP Mcbreaton Pieters, his dance and drama teacher, who also helped him in the achievement of these Awards. BP won many awards himself on this evening and it shows the high level of talent that we have in the Helen O'Grady Drama Academy.

We wish Jaime huge success in the future - he is going to be a name that we will all be watching closely, particulary in dance, singing and acting - he is a musical theatre star in the making!

Also a big thank you to Simone Oosthuizen for bringin Helen O'Grady to Windhoek in Namibia.

"My daughter had her first exposure to your class on Friday, and she still talking about what a fantastic time she had. Thank you so much for making it so pleasant, as she is generally a very quiet person, and that this will allow her not to be so conservative and to have a voice (not just at home, but everywhere)."
